FAQ

FAQ

What leagues do you cover?

Essentially all of them. We’ve recommended A-league cards, obscure friendlies, and MLS shots on target. We also regularly find value in the top 5 leagues and elite competitions. Without giving away too much, we focus on markets where pricing is demonstrably inefficient, and this tends towards focusing on player stats markets for bigger competitions and win markets in smaller ones. But in short, if it’s twenty-two blokes kicking a ball about we’re looking for value.

What type of bets do you focus on?

Again, almost anything we can get our hands on. We do a lot of player stats bets, but we also find value in win markets, corners, and plenty more besides.

Why don’t you simply bet these selections yourself and make millions?

We do bet these selections ourselves! Since we mostly target soft books for player statistics, however, scaling and getting money down becomes a challenge. Essentially, this allows us to share our tips with more people to gain additional income for something we’d be doing anyway while we work on models that can be profitable in sharper markets.

Do you do in-play betting?

No, although we may consider this in the future.

Will I be able to get on at your prices?

Unlike horse racing, most football odds are fairly static and tend not to steam or drift too much. You will get fluctuations, but you won’t see a 5/1 team go off at 2/1 unless something extremely unusual has happened. This means that prices are very rarely cut after we advise them, although for some cases of a clear misprice this does occasionally happen.

While we may experience some shortening of odds as we open up the service, we’re being cautious at first to make sure everyone can get on at the odds advised.

How do you find your edges?

Bookmakers often put little effort into markets like player stats, and try to rely on high margins to turn a profit on them. However, there are simply too many markets for books to efficiently cover. By focusing on where we know they’re weak, we can consistently find huge misprices. We operate a hybrid model which makes use of data, market comparison, and old-fashioned judgement in varying quantities depending on the selection.

Is there a minimum subscription period?

No. You can cancel at any time and you’ll still receive the tips until your next payment date.

How do I receive the tips?

Simply provide your Telegram account details and we’ll send you a message whenever a new bet appears.

What bookies accounts will I need?

As many as possible – the more you have access to, the more bets and better prices you’ll be able to get down. So far, PaddyPower, SkyBet and Betfair Sportsbook have been our most commonly advised books, with Bet365, Coral, Ladbrokes, and William Hill also featuring regularly. However, different books can become more or less important over time as new edges emerge and old ones are eroded.

Does this service work on the exchange?

It does, but more than half of our bets are not available on the exchange, and some that are are in not especially liquid markets like player cards. If you can only get on at the exchange, our advice is to avoid paying for the service for now. However, please join our mailing list, as our plan is to have more exchange bets available as we continue, and we are likely to launch an exchange-only service in the future.

Should I ever put these in multiples, like doubles or a Lucky 15?

That’s entirely up to you and depends on your own personal risk tolerance. We recommend and record our tips as individual bets, but you should have a higher return on investment in the long run taking multiples where possible. However, this will enormously increase your variance and chances of getting to the long run, particularly since a large number of our bets are around the 5.0-8.0 mark. It’s up to you.

Does this service just cover club football or will you be covering the World Cup?

We will absolutely be covering the World Cup. Some of our best returns have been in international games and we expect plenty of action during the tournament.

What time are tips usually sent?

This varies – for some simple “team to win” bets, we may advise them a day or more in advance to get ahead of any potential steam in the market. For player stats bets, which make up around half of our bets, we’ll advise these between teams being announced and kickoff. We may advise a player stats bet before teams are announced if we believe there is a serious risk the price will be cut and the player is almost certain to start. We try to give you plenty of time to get them on before the game starts and not send alerts two minutes before kick off.

What staking system should I use?

This is again up to you – we record all of our tips as flat stakes as we find this to be the most transparent and accountable for tipping services. You can try your own staking system if you wish, but we can’t provide precise EV for Kelly systems and we recommend flat stakes.

What sort of drawdowns should I expect?

So far, our worst drawdowns both peak to trough and in terms of consecutive bets have been around the 20-bet mark. Longer ones are definitely possible, but it’s hard to suggest a concrete figure when the average odds of our bets may rise or fall as the market adapts.

What ROI and strike rate should I expect?

Strike rate is difficult to advise because edges come and go in football and we are constantly developing new systems and searching for new opportunities. Our ROI is presently 30% – our view is that we have been running above average and suspect the real ROI is between 20 and 25%.

Is there a risk of my account getting restricted?

Any time you take money from a bookmaker you run the risk, however since odds in football don’t move much, we won’t consistently be beating the closing line, which is the main giveaway for sharp bettors. You can lessen the risk of account restrictions by priming accounts (more on this here) and by considering taking multiples.

Is this service suitable for arbers?

No, not at all. While our team to win bets that we advise in advance have almost always beaten closing line value, the difference isn’t huge and those particular bets are uncommon. Most of our bets aren’t possible to lay on the exchange. Essentially, arbitrage opportunities for our bets are close to non-existent.

How many bets a day can I expect?

So far we’ve had an average of 4 per day but this varies considerably. On weekends or a busy European midweek night there are of course usually far more than on a Monday or Friday. No-bet days are very rare, but occasionally even on a Saturday the prices aren’t there and sometimes there is lots of value to be found on a small number of Friday night games.

Who is this service NOT for?

People with only one or two obscure bookmakers they can access, people who react poorly to drawdowns, people who expect guaranteed income, and arbitrageurs.
